Goodbye, July!

This is the last minute of July of 2009 when it occurs to me that I should have written something about life and myself but actually I have not. Fortunately I realized that before the very end of July, when I have only posted 5 times due to a shortage of time for blogging.

I have been hustling and bustling ever since mid-July for I have to teach the English language here and there. But I thank God for giving me lots of pleasure like delicious exotic foods and pastimes with friends all around. And my students might have learnt what they need and want, as I’m always aware of. Life is rewarding. Suffering is not always painful, and it could be beautiful as well.

Recently I’ve been into Hunan foods and Sichuan foods, though for most of the time I eat out in an Italian or French restaurant (or whatever, as long as it serves western foods). These kinds of food will result in some skin problems and I’m trying to avoid them by applying aloe gel and tea tree oil religiously.

And on August 16, I will perform at Grand Theatre of China in Tianjin, and probably,  it is this song that must be on the list.

Days in TEDA

Never ever did I live in TEDA for this long. This is a whole new place where I am a stranger. Streets and avenues are straight and broad. People here speak different dialects some of which I can’t recognize or understand. A number of taxi drivers are frauds. There’s a lot to experience, though it’s a place not far from the downtown.

Humid weather continues right in here. Fortunately my bro’s room is air conditioned so that I’m not suffering. He’s from Chongqing, a mild guy working 8 hours a day for Standard Chartered. We’re gonna share the room for ten plus days and it’s nice of him to treat me so right.

Now it’s raining, another thunderstorm striking the city after a rare and sensational solar eclipse in the morning. I didn’t go into it since I gotta work at that time. But my colleagues seemed so interested that they even took pictures with their SLRs. It was also wise for some of them to watch CCTV cover the event over the Internet. I should say the solar eclipse was not beautiful but it was only rare to see that.

Plus I got 10 plus mosquito bites while taking a nap in the afternoon. So freak!!!

Man in the Mirror

7 days since I relocated to the new apartment. Things turn out to be not so perfect as it seems to be but I’m content.

The mirror might be the biggest one ever installed in the washroom, next to my room. Whenever doing some washing I would take a glance subconsciously. It’s curiosity rather than narcissism that makes me do so. The mirror  does not need cleaning and is ever-crystal-clear.

The wall was papered blue, a calming color that was in my mind. I also got a summer pillow and a silky quilt. Undoubtedly I sleep soundly every night. I’m on the 10th floor, mosquitoes unable to fight a battle with me.

Water is a big problem as it’s often cut off due to some technical difficulties. Besides that the elevators break down frequently. Noises are another annoyance since a new library is under construction. The building is so far the newest one on campus, but I’ve found dozens of cracks on the wall, hoping it won’t collapse someday during my stay.

Well, at last but not least, while looking at myself in the mirror, I’m old, without a wrinkling face, but, a senile and fragile heart inside.

Life on the Journey

I didn’t go far. Believe me.

At times I wanna flee the place and surroundings, to somewhere like an exotic city, a wide pasture, or a restaurant nearby where people don’t even know me. Oh, yes! I did tell my colleagues that I wanted to fly to Iceland.

A times I think I’m mad, about nothing or nobody, however, with a sense of self-destruction.

At times I freak myself out before looking for cure for the bleeding soul.

At times it’s simply for loneliness. When you try to stop it, it marches on.

At times …

Disappear” – Mavis Fan

I Lost My Mouse

Almost 9,000 words was what I gotta finish within 12 hours and I made it, hungry and drained. At 10pm I downed a big bowl of wontons and felt good. Yet…tragedy began when I returned and opened my bag, only to find my mouse was missing. I must have left it in the library and it must be absolutely gone.

It sounds funny that I had to bring my own mouse to the library, where computers were damn sluggish, dating back to 2001 or so. I don’t think anyone could have good experience making slideshows or surfing the net. At least the mouse there was an annoyance, and that’s why I used mine.

There’s no match for such a misery that a college student was born in China.
