An 89-Year-Old Mother Taking Care of Her 72-Year-Old Daughter

I’m gonna tell you a true story I read on the net. I’m sorry to hear such news but I’m always ready to help those in waters. To those remote sufferers, I can do nothing but extend my heartfelt sympathy and wish others to help them out if possible. Giving a helping hand makes a most beautiful mind.

During the past 16 years, an 89-year-old woman surnamed LI has been a street vendor selling small articles like needles, keyrings and nail clippers in Wuchang City, who incredibly has to take care of her 72-year-old paralyzed daughter.

Born in Huanggang City in 1920, LI has two daughters, the other of whom is still living in Huanggang, alone and poor. LI’s husband passed away in 1974, leaving his whole family as well as his parents to strive for a living.

16 years ago, LI came to Wuchang along with her elder daughter and parents-in-law, making a living as such a vendor. Years later, her parents-in-law died and LI had to live with the only daughter. 10 years ago, they spent all they had on a 20㎡ second-hand room. 5 years ago, LI’s health problems began and she has earned less and less ever since. Her daughter, however, needs more money to treat paralysis and more attention from her.

The room they live in is poorly furnitured. The bed is an alignment of wooden stools and the electric fan, as LI told the reporter, was given by a kind-hearted neighbor. In hot summer days, they have got to feed themselves with plain porridge and watermelon peels. Once a month, she squeezes on a bus to replenish what to sell and it usually takes her 2 hours a day to sell them.

What worries LI most is that she may die before her daughter and leave her unattended.

Yesterday evening, after taking in some watermelon peels with her daughter, LI went out to sell those articles punctually at 18:00, but didn’t sell a single thing after an hour.

Instead of cracking down street vendors, Chengguan officials say they usually give some money to LI’s family and are indeed thinking of getting them a subsistence allowance against all odds.

Dear friends, if you happen to see LI’s family and the likes, remember to help them so long as you can do just a little thing. Even if you don’t have a single pence, it’s also good to have a word with them to ease their loneliness, sorrow, and pain.

About Mavis

I guess it’s time I wrote something about Mavis since her new release has come out. Such an infatuation for Mavis started in 1996 when her second LP was released and since then I been quite crazy over her, and everything of hers. What differs from what others may hold is the fact that I really love every track of every period in her recording career. She’s a recording artist, I mean, not the same thing as the Cranberries was doing and meant to be. Of all the female recording artists, Mavis must be the most talented one. Various vocal genres are by no means any difficulties to her and that’s why you have heard “健康歌”“刷牙歌”“The Shower Song” as well as “消失”“眼淚”“自言自語””Bartender Angel” that were recorded by the same girl. To be a recording artists had nothing to do with what she thought should have been done over that period but she turned out to be as much depressed as her life went into a mess. Meanwhile, her music style was tottering all the way but she’s not ruined for the biggest evidence is the release of her recent EP and album featuring the band 100% formed under her own label Vegetarian Fish, one member of which is her current boyfriend. As a 13-year Mavis fan, I am truly happy to see she’s living a new life, together with her Mom and boyfriend and music.

<赤子/Innocent> is a good album regardless of her little marketing concerns. I have decided to give a 5-star comment on this album b’cuz Mavis is always trying to convey a refreshing notion through making music after she got over the greatest ever depression in her life. “鬼打牆” and “幽默感” are my favorite tracks reminding me of the life track of Mavis that are not always smooth like we wish it to be.

This album is still on the go in my iPod. I love it, as did I love those of her previous works.

Porn? Politics?

Perhaps China herself doesn’t even know what she’s been doing recently. This mad state firstly kept its netizens banned from certain “touchy” Internet content for days around June 4, then threw out the irritating software Green Dam aiming at censoring “unhealthy” content in the name of protecting younger netizens. Right after that, CCTV had one of their staff play an ordinary college student’s role on TV, known as the screen name GAO Ye, who made a fuss about Google faking a reaction to the sexual content “brought” by Google. GAO Ye was eventually identified by human powered search on xiaonei.com and overwhelmingly condemned  for he had explicitly ruined Google’s fame and respectability, which was not accepted by sensible netizens. But now you can’t Google anything with the keyword GAO Ye since China has barred all the results.

How come China has been panicked into banning sexual content? It’s plain to see that China is keeping an eye on political crises other than porn ban. As an alien corporation, Google has always been regarded as a foe in information transaction because it’s able to lead users to unwanted political content or help them uncover a number of covert horrid government issues. CCTV and Baidu, Google’s biggest competitor in China’s search service, have conspired to strike a fatal blow on Google at the expense of Google’s respectability and reliability and both CCTV and Baidu may well benefit from the intrigue. This time, again, Google has to go through the trauma, whether expected or not. But Google’s not alone, having received decent support from China’s netizens.

The picture (logo) above was created by a Chinese netizen named CantZH. As he expects, we should boycott Baidu and collectively thwart their conspiracy.

Online porn’s been in China even since 1990s and never ever had the state taken high-key measures to prevent them from getting popular. Out of the blue the state interfered. It was sheer absurdity.

It’s a barbarian’s war with no holds barred. We are waiting for China to confess that she enjoys politics better than porn.

Green Dam – Youth Escort

China has stunned its netizens again, after a series of actions taken to bar access to certain touchy Internet content. It’s sheer folly this time for China to have some sophomore Internauts design such kind of censoring software that is required to be pre-installed in PCs and laptops sold in China. Recently, I’ve been on a lot of articles depicting this software and their substance uncovers how foolish the software is and also a possible guess that it’s far from 40 million CNY’s worth. Shortly after the broad Internet censorship for 20th anniversary of the 1989 incident, China’s computer purchasers/users are about to better sense the phrase the shit hit the fan.

The Late News Anchor and the Deadly Bus Fire

Two pieces of melancholy news have just arrived.

1. One of the most famous news anchors of China, the household face of CCTV for two decades and more, LUO Jing, passed away this morning at the age of 48. Before that, in the fall of 2008, he was diagnosed with lymphoma and was given treatment immediately till he died. My mother has kept asking how he was ever since his health problem was heralded. To the audience of Mom’s age, it’s shocking news. He used to be my favorite Chinese news anchor, though later on I realized he had been actually aiding the CCP in propagandizing its people.

2. A sudden blaze aboard a public bus has killed 25 and wounded 76 in Chengdu City, Sichuan. In the city where I’m living can be seen such buses that are bellowing smoke right amongst road traffic. It is these buses in disrepair that are likely to ignite, according to some expert. I’ll share my invention again:

Life is too short to live in absolute safety.

We can complain that the government always throws good money after bad, but we don’t need to complain anymore if our loved ones were on that bus, or if we ourselves were on board.

========

P.S. Here has just come another piece of melancholy news. (20:50)

A landslide has buried 59 (pre-estimated) in Wulong County, Chongqing.

LUO Jing was from Chongqing, and Chongqing used to be a city in Sichuan Province, where the bus fire killed and wounded a hundred today, and where the deadly Wenchuan earthquake occurred in May, 2008.

How come the southwestern part of China should be suffering so many disasters?

The Airplane

October 23rd, 1906 / Brazil / Alberto Santos-Dumont

The first public airplane in Europe was made.

……

June 1st, 2009 / Brazil / Air France

A jet carrying 228 vanished over the Atlantic, in a state of bare survival and little hope.

Air France is facing the worst crash in its history.

……

When humans realized they could fly, they went into ecstasy.

Not until they were deprived of their lives did they feel the melancholy.

Currently, people do everything risking their necks.

A paradox is hovering above my head:

If there were no airplanes, who would have stepped on a mysterious land in dozens of hours?

But for the airplane, we would have less melancholy news.

Anyways, life is too short to live in absolute safety.

I’d rather say, it’s another Titanic disaster in the air (though eventually the debris was found at the sea).

Laputa” - Joe Hisaishi

The Dishonest Weather Forecast

If you insist that it was 37℃/98.6℉ in the afternoon as the media had forecast 24 hours earlier, I’m about to ask who is pulling your leg. June 1st has been the hottest day ever this year, with a detected temperature of  40℃/104℉ (or even more).  The media, however, reported it would be only  37℃/98.6℉ and later at 5:00pm added that it was factually 38.7℃/101.66℉ at 3:00pm. Obviously the weather forecast was dishonestly presented in order to get around the law of factory shutdown on the day above 38℃/100.4℉.

Let’s think twice: why the adding pointed out a temperature at 3:00pm other than that at 2:00pm? Everyone but weather idiots knows that the peak temperature normally occurs at 2:00pm (later or earlier than that, but no way does it occur at 3:00pm).  The possible interpretation is that the 2:00pm figure might be too astonishing to be announced and that the 3:00pm figure was likely to be somewhat acceptable. If the weather forecast had told the public it was 40℃/104℉ at 2:00pm, people would have bawled that the media and the weather station were totally unreliable morons. This little trick just made themselves not look that stupid.

I often hear people’s grouches that the weather turns out to be still worse than forecast. There must be a reason why media (actually they are forced to) smarten up the future weather. It is, I believe, partially the evidence of social dishonesty. I still remember that when grandpa dumped the day’s newspaper on the table, he uttered a sigh, “Nothing is true but the release date.”

Intimacy of the Sin

It was really stunning when I was told that a newcomer teacher had just devoted her twat to a boy student’s prick after an orgy in a bar. We met a week ago and she was impressive for her erotic dressing that could arouse boys’ stiff sticks. That was our first meet and maybe the last since the boy has told a lot of people (inside our school) about the juicy night they have spent. Will she be coerced into quitting teaching? It’s pretty predictable.

Well guys, I gotta say it’s by no means a sensation to know someone has sex with another. Truly, I’d rather it had happened between John and a whore.

Gonna Quit Xiaonei.com

I’ve been long thinkin’ of quittin’ xiaonei.com but actually seem not to have made a full decision for I’m still feelin’ attached to the ones I know and care for. Yet I find it necessary to drop the page for the ridiculously inevitable reasons below:

#1. The pal list contains various dimensions. Every time I blogged, the utterance would get to those unexpected visitors.

#2. I love my life and treasure every little spark in it. But the content is often abused.

#3. Friendship will neither be dampened nor strengthened due to the existence of xiaonei.com.

#4. I don’t need to be understood as for art. No fans but soulmates make me feel alright. And art is the only medium.

#5. Xiaonei.com is no less commercial than you could imagine. I never expect to get meat from a tiger’s mouth.

#6. I’m not about to expose all about my life tho’ it sucks sometimes.

#7. Truths hurt; lies hurt. Bullshits don’t hurt so that xiaonei.com is popular.

#8. I really don’t know what to do on xiaonei.com. It’s not my way to voyeurize pictures of girl friends and instead, I’m being disturbed by strange girls even guyz.

#9. I never review the stuff I share. Remember this famous quote: Too much information makes a world of rubbish. —- by Jason Arikid

#10. I got a quiet blog here: http://blog.Arikid.com. I’m used to thinkin’ and writin’ in English other than other languages. Comment on my blog? I never wish to have you do that.

I think I’m gonna quit xiaonei.com since it’s no good place to linger at. I know u guyz must be smart enough to sense my stay. Good luck!
